Last night, shortly after we finished eating dinner, we heard a loud bang from outside. After noticing the flashing lights that followed directly thereafter, the boys went outside while Mary and I watched from the window.
Apparently, someone wanted for numerous shootings in the last few weeks had crashed into a car on our street. He has been being chased by several cop cars, and after coming to his abrupt stop, he jumped out of the car to make a run for it. In the process, he dropped his gun. The cops all pulled to a stop, blocking his exit and caught him. After searching him several times, they escorted the now limping culprit to a car and shoved him inside (he was still no appearing to cooperate at this point).
A few more cop cars arrive, and suddenly there are about ten cops standing outside surveying the scene. They are waited for a good amount of time for a warrant (to get into the crashed car, which is still running), a toe truck (to remove said car), and an ambulance (to check out the now injured culprit).
I feel bad for being so overly interested in the goings on outside, but it was just so engrossing.
Anyhow, that's probably going to be the highlight of the month.
