Just wanted to let you know that we made it home from my sister's graduation safe and sound. Braiden was very happy to be home, and we all went to bed knowing we would sleep well. At about midnight, I woke up to the sound of what I thought were very noisy rambunctious college kids in the parking lot behind our building, and then banging on doors to wake everyone up. I went to the door to tell them they needed to leave since we had a sleeping baby, but it turned out to actually be a police man knocking on all the doors trying to wake people up to get them out of the building.
After we got safely outside, we saw a *huge* fire burning in the recycling bins right next to the house; apparently someone set them on fire. I think they might have also set trash bins in two other spots near the building on fire too, but am not sure at this point.
No one was hurt, and now the fire is out (although the smoke is still lingering in and around the apartment). I am very glad to say our neighborhood really is very nice, as we had several people from houses near by offering to bring us blankets, and a woman who let Braiden and I go warm up inside her house while we waited for the commotion to calm down. We finally were able to re-enter our building a little bit ago, and the fire crew is still cleaning up the mess outside and poking around for any clues as to what exactly happened.
We hope you are all safe and sound. For now, we are going back to bed.
Love,
Us
PS- The bunnies seem to be alright, even though sadly we were not able to bring them out of the apartment with us. :(
